We are proud to provide TAPPI Connect as a centralized, online resource for our members, consultants and volunteers to network, share knowledge, problem solve and collaborate.

The committee links will direct you to the TAPPPI Connect Community pages to get involved in discussion and more.

CD Mapping Standards CIG: The function of this CIG is to provide guidelines to users (e.g. papermakers, commissioning engineers, process control engineers and software developers) who are dealing with CD (cross-machine direction) actuator mapping for CD sheet quality control applications.

Field Instrument CIG: Mission: To support and promote best practices and principles regarding application, installation, calibration and maintenance as well as education for current and new technology instrumentation.

Machine Vision CIG: The function of this CIG is to promote best practices in the disciplines of implementing camera based quality control systems in the pulp and paper industry. Two of the most commonly used machine visions systems are web monitoring (WMS) and web inspection (WIS).

Process Control Division Council: The Process Control Division Council acts in the capacity of an executive committee assisting the Division Chairman in the conduction of the Division's business and maintains continuity through changes in Division leadership.

Process Control Members: (Process Control Common Interest Groups) The Process Control Members promote the advancement of technology and its applications in the fields of process control, electrical engineering and mill-wide information systems within the pulp and paper and allied industries. The division will encourage the development of technical information, professional practices and technical guidelines; coordinate committee information and recognize member achievements. Through its activities, the division will offer its members opportunities for enhancing leadership skills and for furthering professional development.

QCS Sensor Correlation Common Interest Group: To create and promote principles and best practices regarding dynamic sensor correlation between online QCS sensors and offline quality measurements. Our goal is to put paper mills on the right path to success by ensuring measurements from the online sensors and the offline quality measurement closely track each other. Proper sensor correlation improves quality measurement accuracy, enhances paper machine performance by significant savings in raw material usage, increases efficiency by reducing rejects and energy consumption and enhanced control.

Quality Control Systems Education Common Interest Group: This function of this CIG is to provide education material to members in the field of Quality Control Systems (QCS). QCS are special systems used in the paper industry to measure and control paper properties in two dimensions (cross and machine direction). This CIG has produced a TAPPI publication, “Paper Machine Quality Control Systems Volume I: Measurement Systems and Product Variability” and conducted mini-tutorials on its content. The CIG is working to publish Vol II on QCS Controls

Reel Statistics CIG: This function of this CIG is to provide guidelines to users (e.g. papermakers, process control engineers) on calculation and interpretation of profile data statistics.
